Gennie Gonzalez

I’m a passionate award-winning community development professional focused on urban planning, real estate, and social equity. I aim to create equitable, resilient neighborhoods where everyone can thrive.

Community-Centric Solutions

I prioritize the needs and voices of the communities I work with, ensuring that every project is built around the people it impacts. By collaborating with local governments, nonprofits, and community organizations, I drive sustainable change that reflects community aspirations.

My Approach

Using Data for Equitable Development

Leveraging spatial analysis and GIS tools, I provide clear, evidence-based insights that inform smarter urban planning. My focus on promoting social equity addresses disparities in housing access and economic opportunity, striving to create communities where everyone has a chance to thrive.

Resilience and Transparent Communication

I’m committed to developing climate-adaptive strategies that support economic vitality and environmental sustainability. Clear communication is at the heart of my approach, making complex data accessible and empowering stakeholders to engage meaningfully in the planning process.

Asheville, NC

Mapping Spatial Racial Equity Project

Analyzed historical Sanborn fire insurance maps to assess the impact of urban renewal on African American neighborhoods. Utilizing ArcGIS Online, I documented the significant loss of homes and businesses acquired through eminent domain. This project visually preserves the historical context of these neighborhoods over time.
